Notes from the minutes of the recent NCAA Executive Committee meeting:
 
-- The Executive Committee has awarded a stipend for a statistician to
   compile numbers for the Ice Hockey Selection Committee.
 
-- The Executive Committee says NO to letting the independent team play
   in a "play-in" game for the NCAA tourney. (This would in essence allow
   a thirteenth team in the tourney.)
 
-- The Executive Committee also RECOMMENDS that the automatic bid for an
   independent team be ELIMINATED. (I don't know who has final say over
   if/when the independent bid will go bye-bye.)
