COMMENTS:
BC gained a split of the weekend with some tenacious defense,
opportunistic goals, and contributions from some non-regulars,
while UML had to feel a little disappointed after coming from
3-0 down to tie the game with the goalie pulled in the last
minute of regulation.

Three regulars did not play for BC due to last night's game;
Greg Callahan was sitting due to a game misconduct last night,
and Jerry Buckley and Joe Harney appeared to be DNP - coaches
decision for stupid penalties, etc. last night. Ryan Taylor
got the start at defense in his first game this year, and Timmy
Lewis and Clifton McHale proved productive, with McHale scoring
and Lewis celebrating what he thought was his first collegiate
goal though the referee did not award it.

First period: It was even, though UML's Greg Bullock had good
chances on a 5-on-3 advantage and missed the net while all alone
in front late in the period. BC's goaltender Greg Taylor shook
off an early shot off his forehead to keep the game scoreless.

Second period: More action, with a good deal of physical
play developing (and the crowd turning on the referees.) Each
team had early chances turned away, then Botto took a tripping
penalty while trying to reach in and lift a stick. That got the
crowd into the game, and BC scored a power play goal to open the
scoring. After BC killed a penalty, the crowd again felt robbed
when an apparent too many men on BC was let go; when BC used
good forechecking to force a bad UML clear and scored on the
rebound of a scramble in front, the refs became marked men for
the night. It became evident that they were "letting them play"
when UML's Bullock and BC's Canavan traded a series of trips,
cross checks, and pokes with no penalties called. Christian
Sbrocca spent much of the rest of the period looking for people
to hit, getting 2 penalties in the process; he also got tackled
in center ice by Ashe with no call; major booing. BC's defense
was able to clear the pucks in front of the goal to keep UML from
getting many shots; a very strong game for the BC defense.

Third period: The physical action calmed down as the need to
score goals became paramount for UML. BC's Lewis thought he
scored at about the 3 minute mark but play continued, with UML
increasing the pressure. BC got their 3rd goal on a quick 2-on-1
counterattack, with McHale sliding to the middle and lifting a
nice backhand past Lindsay. Lowell got it right back, though,
capitalizing on a bad BC clearing attempt as Daw got the rebound
in close on the right. As UML kept pressing, Taylor got tangled
with Sbrocca behind the BC net and slashed/pushed Sbrocca; Salsman
got Lowell's 2nd goal (PPG) in a rebound scramble at 8:23. While
UML clearly had the momentum, a couple of penalties gave BC some
breathing space. Concannon had a shorthanded break for UML, was
taken down, but no call on BC got the crowd going again. Most of
the remaining action was UML attacking and BC just trying to
clear. Lindsay came out with 58 seconds left and Daw got the
equalizer poking at a rebound at 19:20.

Overtime: BC seemed to have recovered their composure in the OT,
with most of the action in the Lowell end. UML got one outside
shot, then BC blocked another rush and freed Hymovitz on a 2-on-1.
He was able to get a free wrist shot from the left circle and
beat Lindsay cleanly for the game winner.

BC worked hard to eliminate many of the stupid penalties and bad
defensive clears they have been plagued with, and it proved the
difference in this game. Lowell continues its up and down play,
going from almost lackadaisical at times to dominating when they
get in the game emotionally. They have to realize, though, that
they cannot continue to get behind in games and rely on offensive
firepower to come back.
