I just talked with UMaine Sports Information Director about this very
subject.  He says that both Maine and Northeastern get a tie, but
NU gets 2 points and UM gets 1 point.  I suppose there will be
something in the standings about "shootout victories," hence the other
point.
Simply put, a game that goes into a shootout is a tie, plain and simple.
The shootout is just for a point in HE standings.
 
This also raises another question.  Will HE playoff games be settled with
a shootout?  I, for one, hope not.
