CORNELL & CLARKSON AVOID UPSETS TO STAY ABOVE PACK
With Vermont and Brown pulling off upsets on the road, ECAC front-
runners Cornell and Clarkson avoided such a fate with two ECAC wins each last
week to stay ahead of the pack. Clarkson swept Vermont and RPI at home in
high scoring games (7-6, 8-5), while Cornell took two on the road, beating
Colgate (3-2) and Dartmouth (7-3).
Four full league weekends remain as each team has played 14 ECAC games,
with 8 remaining.
ECAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Doug Derraugh, Cornell, SR RW, Arnprior, ONT.
Had all three goals in a 3-2 win at Colgate, and followed his first

EXTENDED ECAC NOTES
Vermont's John LeClair appears to be playing like the dominant force he
was expected to be. Injuries have dotted LeClair's career but his performance
at Clarkson and St. Lawrence this weekend had observers on both sides of the
ice in awe.
Friday's Cornell-Clarkson game will be televised by the Cornell Sports
Network, picked up by Sportschannel New England live and by Sportschannel
New York at 8:30 p.m.
Last Friday's RPI at St. Lawrence game set an ECAC record for penalty
minutes as the two teams combined for 196 minutes. The previous record of
130 was surpassed in the third period alone where 140 minutes were called
by referee John Malinosky. Some 84 minutes were called at the 17:18 mark of
the third period alone. RPI's 114 minutes set a single team record as well.
