GOLD: 1991 NC$$ finals: BU-Northern Michigan (3 OT)
SILVER: 1995 NC$$ semis: Maine-Michigan (3 OT)
BRONZE: (tie) BC-Terreri (I don't have the full game on tape but what I have
is a whopper.)
1993 Maine-Lake Superior
Although I share Steve Twombly's enthusiasm for UMass-Lowell in general, and
was screaming and hollering at the TV while UML-Minn was going on, I wouldn't
put it up there with the all-time greats because of the fatigue factor. From
my point of view, Lowell clearly outplayed Minnesota for two periods. However,
Minnesota had received the bye while Lowell had played the previous night and
in the third period and OTs, you could tell that Lowell just didn't have the
legs anymore. The slower pace dictated by the fatigue keeps this game from
matching the above ones.
Unfortunately, pre-1992 I have a very limited background in college hockey, so
clearly I'm unaware of some great ones.
