CCHA PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK: Michigan junior right wing Denny Felsner has been
named CCHA Player-of-the-Week for the first weekend of the 1990-91 season.
Felsner, a 6-0, 185 lb. native of Mt. Clemens, Michigan had seven points (4G,
3A) in the Wolverines sweep at Miami. In Friday's contest, Felsner had two
power play goals and two assists, while in Saturday's game he had two goals
(one on the power play) including the game-winner and one assist.
This is the third time in his career that Felsner has been named CCHA P-O-T-W.

the CCHA Consolation game as Michigan skated to a 5-4 win. Last Meeting at

FSU - Bob Mancini (1-0-1 in his first year). OSU - Jerry Welsh (290-260-38 in
his 16th year). Series: The Buckeyes lead 28-14-6, with OSU winning last
year's series with a 2-0-2 mark vs. the Bulldogs. Last Meeting: Jan. 5-6 at
FSU, the teams skated to a 3-3 (OT) tie on Friday, with OSU winning 4-3 (OT)
on Saturday. Last Meeting at OSU: Oct. 27-28, 1989, with the Buckeyes

UIC vs. Western Michigan, October 19 at Lawson Ice Arena (4,000) and October

Wilkinson (160-154-18 in his ninth year). Series: The Broncos lead 37-12-2,
and went 2-1-1 vs. the Flames last year. Last Meeting: Feb. 9-10 at UIC,
with the Flames winning 5-1 Friday and the teams skating to a 3-3 (OT) tie on
Saturday. Last Meeting at WMU: Dec. 1-2, 1989, with the Broncos sweeping 6-4
and 9-6.
Kent State at Miami, October 19-20 at Goggin Ice Arena (2,200). Coaches: KSU
- Bill Switaj (14-16-3 in one year). Miami - George Gwozdecky (12-26-4 in his
second season at Miami, 79-56-6 overall in his fifth year). Series: The
Redskins lead 7-1-0, with the last meeting coming during the 1979-80 season.
This will mark the season opening weekend for the Golden Flashes. KSU returns
15 letterwinners from last year's squad, including last year's top two scorers
in Tim Evans (15-19-34) and Brian Mulcahy (16-17-33). Brian Dorfman (4-4-0,
4.19, .857) is battling two freshmen for playing time in the KSU net.

Felicio records CCHA win: Ferris State netminder Marc Felicio notched his
first CCHA league win since December 2, 1988, when he defeated BGSU 6-4 in Big
Rapids. Felicio had been 0-10-3 in his last 13 CCHA decisions.
Hat Tricks abound during first weekend: Six CCHA players tallied hat tricks
this past weekend. Friday night hat tricks were scored by Jim Cummins (MSU)
and Larry Pilut (UIC). Saturday night three-goal performances were recorded
by Shawn Heaphy (MSU), Don Stone (MICH), Jeff Napierala (LSSU) and Mike
Merriman (OSU).
Newcomers impressive in debuts: Michigan's first five goals Friday were
scored by freshmen (Brian Wiseman-2, David Oliver-2, David Wright-1). Oliver
had a goal and an assist on Saturday. Wolverine goalie Steve Shields stopped
10 of 11 Miami shots in Friday's victory. Miami's lone goal Friday was scored
by rookie Rene Vonlanthen. The Redskins first goal Saturday came off the
stick of Enrico Blasi. WMU netminder Craig Brown made 17 stops in Friday's
5-5 (OT) tie at Ferris State. LSSU's Clayton Beddoes had two goals on Saturday
