A question arising from the NHL draft: BU defenseman Scott Lachance was the
fourth pick in the first round, going to the New York Islanders, and I'm
wondering if this is the highest that any player on a US college team (not a
recruit; someone already there) has ever gone in the draft.

One off-the-wall piece of 1991 draft trivia: Dartmouth had as many players
picked this year (one) as all the rest of the Ivies put together, with
center Scott Fraser going to Montreal in the ninth round. Brown goalie
Geoff Finch was picked by Minnesota in the seventh, while no players from
Cornell, Harvard, Princeton, or Yale were picked this year. There were a
total of twelve ECAC players drafted, with half of them being taken after
the ninth round.
