It's unclear how much non-NHL hockey HTS is going to carry. There was an
article in the Washington Post last week about HTS's scheduling problems
(caused by the MLB strike and the NHL lockout). The V-P and General
Manager said that they would replace some of the Washington Capitals's
games with IHL or ECHL games. Friday night's game was replaced by an IHL
game, but Saturday's game was replaced with racing. He said that hockey
fans wouldn't be interested in watching anything other than the NHL, so
they were't sure how much hockey they'd put on to replace the Caps.
Even though they're supposed to be carrying College Hockey USA, they only
have it scheduled once in October, and that's at 2 or 3 a.m. The other
two weeks, they've scheduled CCHA Hockey Digest, so it's unclear how
often they'll carry College Hockey USA. My impression is that they use
it as a filler when they have a 1/2 hour gap.
