MAINE remained unbeaten with a two-game sweep of NORTHEASTERN,
continuing its home unbeaten string. Paul Kariya had 1-7--8 on the
weekend to bring his nation-leading totals to 12-31--43 in 14 games,
just over 3 points per game. BOSTON UNIVERSITY got back on track with a
two-game sweep of MERRIMACK, led by Steve Thornton's 3-2--5 in the
series. PROVIDENCE and BOSTON COLLEGE split with each team winning
at home. BC was led by Marc Beran's 2-1--3 in its 6-3 win, while PC
defenseman Todd Huyber scored his first career goal in 94 games in
overtime to help the Friars squeak out a win. PC led 3-0 late in the
second before BC rallied for four of the next five goals to tie it.
UMASS-LOWELL and NEW HAMPSHIRE each won a game in the other's rink to
split their series. Lowell trailed 4-3 halfway through the third
before scoring the game's final four goals to seal the win Friday; the
Chiefs were outshot 52-29 with goalie Dwayne Roloson making 48 saves.
Lowell has the second most overall wins in HE with a 9-4-0 mark.

Only Maine and Northeastern are currently over .500 in HE play. Merrimack
remains the only team without a win in HE, 0-6-0.

League play concludes this weekend before the holiday break. UNH has
already finished up in HE play for now and will play a pair of
nonleague games this week, as the Wildcats host Brown on Wednesday and
then play Maine in a nonleague game at Portland on Friday. The only
other nonleague game finds BU travelling to Dartmouth on Saturday.

There will be four HE games played this week involving seven of the eight
teams. UMass-Lowell is the only team in HE action twice, as the Chiefs
play at Northeastern Friday in NESN's last HE telecast until January 8th,
and then on Saturday UML hosts Maine. The other two games will be
played Wednesday with all four teams involved finishing up league play
for now. BC is at rival BU, and Merrimack is at Providence.

Maine is the only team that will be in action betwen next weekend and
Christmas. The Black Bears make an appearance in the Great Western
Freeze Out Dec 19-20.
