Not entirely hockey related, but since Title IX affects all sports, it's
sorta relevant.
For a cool story about how Providence celebrated its final baseball season,
check out the link below:
http://www.sectionb.com/prov.htm
Background notes:
Animals of Section B are a Florida St. baseball fan group who sit in Section
B of the stadium and lead the fans in cheers.
the regional was @Florida St.
PC's baseball team is being killed after this season for Title IX reasons
(sigh, another casualty to that stinkin rule - hope their softball team(if
they have one) goes 0-50 for the next 50 years)
Side Story:
During the party talked about in the story, the PC coaches, players, fans
and the Animals made a not-so-nice phone call to the PC administration, and
the idea was brought up by the coaches. Can you blame them? As one Animal
said, "What were they gonna do? Fire the coaches or suspend the players?
Take away their scholarships?"
