I know for a fact that it's happened in the ECAC, most recently in 1987. The
format for the ECAC consolation is, I believe, the same as for a regular-season
game. If there's a tie at the end of regulation, they'll play a 5-minute
sudden-death OT. If nobody scores, then that's it -- the game ends in a tie.
