Haven't seen anything posted yet on the Fairbanks-Anchorage series (where
are our Alaskan hockey-l'ers???). But I have this "report" on Friday's
game in Fairbanks from my UAF freshman son...
>A wild and steamy affair at the Carlson last night! UAF beats UAA in a
>defensive stand-off, 6-5! The Nooks jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the
>first, but UAA tied it up, leaving only a 4-3 lead for UAF in the second.
>Halfway through the third, UAA scored two unanswered goals to take a 4-5
>lead, leaving the crowd relatively in shock. But a key powerplay helped
>produce two late goals, giving UAF the 6-5 lead with 3 minutes to go, and
>they hold on for the victory. For all the bumping and bruising, there
>wasn't any big time fighting, both on the ice and off. The teams seemed a
>little nervous (obviously) and things were a little sloppy at first, but
>after that, the goals started to come on in. Both defenses were a bit lax.
Haven't heard anything about Saturday's game in Anchorage.
