And, I have heard several other ECAC folks say the same thing. This is
a perfect example of what I said about people shooting it down if it makes
their teams look bad! Look at the CCHA v. ECAC (TCHCR numbers from
    2/24/91 edition):

          Total #NLG #teams NLG/Team #Teams/TCHCR top 15 Avg TCHCR Rank
    ECAC 58* 12 4.83 1 18.89
    CCHA 48 9 5.33 5 27.25

*-doesn't include two NLG games that involved members of the ECAC playing
each other, in tourney play (Syracuse & Yale tourneys).

ECAC teams also played 9 games against non-NCAA Division I competition to
    the CCHA's 3 (and HE's 2). I can't buy the argument about not having
enough games to schedule when ECAC teams won't schedule them against good
nonleague competition. But at any rate...

The Ivies can schedule only 26 games (more if outside continental U.S.)
and the ECAC non-Ivies 30 (ditto), so that leaves them either 4 or 8
nonleague games apiece, approximately. The CCHA plays 32 league games,
so that leaves them with around 6 games apiece. The above chart shows
that if only NCAA DivI games are counted (the only NLG counted in TCHCR),
both leagues actually average about the same number of NLG. Yet the
average ECAC team is ranked more than 8 positions below the average CCHA
    team.
