I, too, will agree with mike, to a point.  I'd say that maybe the top
2/3 of the ECAC (to give a total of 8 teams) could be more fairly compared
to the Hockey East.  In fact, I'd like to see something similar to the
Big East-ACC Challenge in basketball...have eight teams (such as this year's
top 8) from the ECAC play one team each from the Hockey East.  Since most
ECAC and HE teams play at least one game versus the other conference, this
wouldn't interfere with the 34-game limit (I believe the ECAC does have a
30-game limit, and the Ivies have a 26 or 28 game limit).  I'm not exactly
sure how they do the pairings in the Big East-ACC Challenge, though, so I
really couldn't say how to do it.  In the interest of fairness, half the
games would be at ECAC home ice, while the other half would be on HE home
ice.  To be honest, I think you'd probably find a 4-4 split (or 3-3-2, or
some even record) in the eight games, and not all based on home ice.
