=============================================================================
CCHA PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK: Bowling Green State University junior center Martin
Jiranek has been named CCHA Player-of-the-Week for February 15-16.
Jiranek, a 5-11, 170 lb. native of Bashaw, Alberta, had six points (5G, 1A) in
a weekend sweep of Miami. In Friday's 6-2 Falcon win, Jiranek recorded his
second hat trick of the season. He scored two goals in the first period
including a power play marker. BGSU won 7-3 Saturday with Jiranek scoring two
more goals (first put BG up 4-2 and the second goal made it 5-3) and adding an
assist. Jiranek was a +5 for the weekend.
Jiranek was a June 1990 supplemental draft pick of the Washington Capitals.
This is the first time in his career Jiranek has been named CCHA P-O-T-W.

My biased nomination for #2 (only for fear of being shouted down for being
too biased) CCHA PLAYER-0F-THE-WEEK is Jason Wooley who, as an effective
defenseman, against a slightly stronger team (Michigan rather than Miami),
but admittedly playing with a slightly better team (look out, here comes
Keith) scored only 3 goals but got 4 assists for 7 points this weekend.
