Summary:
The AFC Championship wasn't the only blowout in Buffalo on Sunday.
Union skated to an easy win over the outmatched Ice Griffs of Canisius College
in a Sunday afternoon game.
Union's 10 goals included 3 goals and an assist by Craig Ferrero, 2
goals from Bill Railton, a goal and 3 assists from Terry Campbell, and a goal
and 4 assists from Rick Clifford. Tim Smith also scored his first 2 collegiate
goals. Campbell's points moved him into sole possesion of 2nd place on the
all-time Union scoring chart.
Junior goalie Shayne White missed his first career shutout by about 5
minutes. After White let in a power play goal, freshman Eric Weinberger made
his first appearance, playing the final 5 minutes in goal for Union.
Union improves to 10-3-2.
Union notes:
- Junior forward Tim Cregan missed the Canisius game with a separated shoulder
he suffered in the third period of the Geneseo game. He is expected to miss 2
or 3 weeks.
- Union begins a 4 game homestand Tuesday night against the rival Hamilton
Continentals.
