Wow indeed. Since we are discussing scholarships and the archives were
mentioned earlier today, I am providing a link to a message I submitted
back in July 2003 that addresses this concern. Note how prominently
Colgate is mentioned in this post.

Union may not have athletic scholarships, but I seem to recall that a
few years back they had a pool of money for 'campus diversity'. Seems
the campus needed a more diverse pool of kids with left-handed
slapshots... That's probably the same kind of system the Ivies run
under too. Lessee - $25,000 for a right winger, $25,000 for an oboist,
$25,000 for a tight end.
