CCHA PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK:  Ferris State senior left wing Rod Taylor has been
named CCHA Player-of-the-Week for the third weekend in November.
 
Taylor, a 5-9, 175 lb. native of Lake Orion, Michigan, had five points (4G,
1A) in the Bulldogs three point weekend vs. Bowling Green.  In Friday's 5-5
overtime tie, Taylor took charge with FSU trailing 2-1.  He set up Mike May to
tie the score at two, then he scored twice in a four minute span early in the
third period to give FSU a 4-2 lead.  In Saturday's 4-2 victory, he twice
scored game-tying goals (at one and two).
 
Taylor now has 12 goals in 12 games this season.  This is the first time that
he has been named CCHA Player-Of-The-Week.

Ohio State at Michigan, Nov. 23-24 at Yost Arena (8,100).  Coaches:  OSU -
Jerry Welsh (294-265-39 in his 16th year).  MICH - Red Berenson (115-126-13 in
his seventh season).  Series:  The Buckeyes have a slim 18-15-4 lead.  OSU is
2-0-2 in the last four meetings.  Last Meeting:  Jan. 27 at Michigan, the teams
skated to a 3-3 (OT) tie as OSU rallied for three third period goals.  Buckeye
goals were scored by David Smith, Derek Higdon and Don Oliver with Michigan
goals coming from David Roberts, Don Stone and Rob Brown.  Warren Sharples
made 23 saves for 'M', while Todd Fanning made 36 stops for Ohio State.
 
Lake Superior at Ferris State, Nov. 23-24 at Ewigleben Arena (2,573).
Coaches: LSSU - Jeff Jackson (9-2-1 in his first year).  FSU - Bob Mancini
 (5-3-4 in
his first year).  Series:  Lake Superior has a 30-23-3 lead.  The Lakers have
won four straight and five of the last six meetings.  Last Meeting:  Feb. 2-3
at FSU, LSSU won 14-5 on Friday and 8-1 on Saturday.  Jeff Napierala, Jim Dowd
and Jeff Jablonski all had four goals in the series for the Lakers.  Daniel
Chaput had two goals in the Friday contest for the Bulldogs.
 
Western Michigan vs. Bowling Green, Nov. 23 at BGSU Arena (5,000) and Nov. 24
at Lawson Arena (4,000).  Coaches:  WMU - Bill Wilkinson (165-158-19 in his
ninth year).  BGSU - Jerry York (287-170-23 in his 12th year at BGSU, 412-257-
26 in his 19th year overall).  Series:  The Falcons lead 49-20-1.  The teams
split last year (2-2), while BGSU has won six of the last eight meetings.
Last Meeting:  Jan. 5-6 at BGSU, the Falcons won 3-2 on Friday, while the
 Broncos
skated to a 6-1 win on Saturday.  Angelo Libertucci (BGSU) made 50 saves and
Mike Power (WMU) had 52 stops in the series.
 
Miami at Michigan State, Nov. 24-25 at Munn Arena (6,255).  Sunday's contest
begins at 3:10 and will be aired LIVE by PASS.  Coaches:  Miami - George
Gwozdecky (15-31-6 in his second season at Miami, 82-61-8 overall in his fifth
year).  MSU - Ron Mason (324-145-19 in his 12th year at MSU, 613-255-33 in his
25th year overall).  Series:  The Spartans have a commanding 27-4-1 lead.  MSU
has won the last six meetings outscoring the Redskins 38-16.  Last Meeting:
Feb. 9-10 at Miami, MSU won twice, 4-2 and 5-3, as Kip Miller had three goals
in the series.  Last Meeting at MSU:  Dec. 1-2, 1989, the Spartans won both
games, 4-2 and 8-2.  Mark Michaud had 48 saves in the Friday loss.
 
Air Force at UIC, Nov. 23-24 at UIC Pavilion (8,802).  Coaches:  USAFA - Major
Chuck Delich (80-66-5 in his sixth season).  UIC - Larry Pedrie (3-9-0 in his
first year).  Series:  UIC has won all four meetings.  Last Meeting:  Jan.
9-10, 1988 at UIC, the Flames won twice, 8-1 and 4-2.  Air Force has compiled
a 1-4-1 mark heading into the series at UIC.  Bob Ingraham leads the Falcons
offense, while the goaltending duties have been split by Mike Blank and Mark
Liebich.  Air Force is rated fourth in the KBYR Independent Coaches Poll.

For the first time in CCHA history, American born players constitute over 50%
of the respective CCHA rosters.  Of the total 242 players:  124 are American,
116 Canadian and two others.
 
Lake Superior falls in OT:  The Lakers 4-3 overtime loss at home to Michigan
Saturday was the first Lake Superior overtime loss since October 29, 1988,
when the Wolverines won at the Norris Center 5-4.
 
Woolley approaches 100 career points:  Michigan State junior blueliner Jason
Woolley has 98 career (26 goals, 72 assists) points entering this weekends
series against Miami.
 
Power Play Blues:  The Broncos of Western Michigan are 0-for-30 on the man
advantage since they scored a power play goal against Michigan State on
October 27th in a 3-2 loss.
 
Heaphy T-10th on MSU goal list:  Michigan State senior right wing Shawn Heaphy
tallied two goals over the weekend vs. Boston College to raise his career total
to 84 tying him for 10th place with Mark Calder ('70-74) on the MSU charts.
 
Brown stones Ohio State:  Western Michigan freshman netminder Craig Brown
stopped 52 of 55 shots (.945) in the Broncos home sweep of Ohio State.  Brown
made 25 saves on Friday while allowing two goals (WMU won 4-2).  In Saturday's
3-1 Western Michigan victory, Brown stopped 27 of 28 shots while only allowing
a 5-3 PPG to OSU's Paul Rutherford (who has now scored a goal in six straight
games).
 
UIC's Watson finding scoring touch:  The Flames' freshman left wing Chris
Watson had two goals prior to last weekend's series with Miami.  In Friday's
4-2 UIC win, Watson scored the game-winner, while in Saturday's 6-3 Flame
victory, Watson had two goals to put UIC up 3-1 early in the second period.
 
Neaton leads Michigan offense in the Soo:  The Wolverines' sophomore defenseman
Patrick Neaton had four points in the Michigan split at Lake Superior.  In
Friday's 10-5 LSSU win, Neaton had two assists.  In Saturday's 4-3 OT win for
the Wolverines, Neaton's first goal tied the scored at two with eight minutes
left in regulation, while his second marker (at 39 seconds of OT) gave
Michigan
the win.
