In a game televised nationally via satellite, Clarkson stopped Cornell
in a well-played 3-1 win.

Cornell opened scoring early in the game with a PPG by Hannah only 2:45
in the game but it would be the Big Red's only tally. Clarkson did its
usual, they came out flying early and allowed a goal and went totally flat.
However, the Knights got the momentum when Craig Conroy (the team's best all
around player in the game, in my opinion) fought off three defenders to
backhand a PPG past Cornell goalie Parris Duffus. Captain Scott Thomas
scored the game winning goal 4:49 into the 2nd as a flurry in front resulted
somehow in a net bulge. Belanger and Marchant got assists on Thomas' 16th
of the season.

The 3rd period saw several good saves by both Duffus and Clarkson's Chris Rogles
who has another top-notch performance. Twice, Duffus fully extended himself to
make pretty glove saves on Knight shots. Rogles made a save while flat on his
back to prevent Cornell from tying it. Cornell couldn't pull Duffus until
:20 left due to good puck control by the Knights (actually McKutheon could've
pulled Duffus with @1:40 left but decided to wait...a fatal error). Belanger
added an empty-net tally for Clarkson.

[NOTE: Thomas goal was assisted by Dubinsky and Fotheringham]

A few aside: this was probably Clarkson's best played game of the season
(with the possible exception of the other Cornell game). It was a solid
effort by both teams and especially Chris Rogles and Parris Duffus. Un-
fortunately, the same could not be said for referee Dan Murphy who missed
several obvious calls on both sides. In one instance, Duffus skated behind
the net to play the puck and after doing so stuck his knee out right into
a Clarkson player's thigh and right in front of Murphy, but no call was
issued. In another instance, Murphy called a marginal tripping penalty vs.
the Knights and just a few seconds later "missed" a super-obvious hook
that should've been called on Clarkson.

Kudos to the fans at the game. This was the loudest, most enthusiastic game
of the season for the Clarkson fans. Even more so than the St Lawrence game.
This was probably due, in part, to the presence of the Cornell band which
was right next to the Clarkson student section. I think their being there
stirred up the fans a littl emore than usual. They were pretty good too.
After hearing them play, I'd have to rank them in the top three bands in the
ECAC with Clarkson and Vermont (in no particular order)...sorry RPI.

Clarkson improves to 16-6-1 (10-4-1 ECAC); next game vs. Colgate.
Cornell falls to 10-7-2 (8-5-2 ECAC); next game at St Lawrence.

BTW- I was impressed by Cornell forward and leading scorer Jason Vogel
(who went to the same high school as yours truly).
