Cornell has been on Empire Sports Network's ECAC Game of the
Week twice this year, and in each of them the opposing team has scored
early in the overtime.

Cornell got the first goal in this game just as a Big Red
powerplay ended; Doug Steistra slipped in a wraparound before Dan
Murphy could get his right skate against the post to make it 1-0
Cornell. Clarkson had an apparent goal waved off due to a quick
whistle, but on the replay there appeared to be a man in the crease
anyway. The Knights did score the next two goals on shots from the
point, one on the power play and one even strength.

Kyle Knopp tied the game 2-2 in the second, batting a Ryan
Moynihan pass out of the air and into the net. Jeff Anbinder, I hope
you were taping the game, since you were clearly visible in the
post-goal band shot. With Clarkson on a 4-on-3 power play, a penalty
was called on the Knights, and when the whistle was blown there was a
commotion in the Cornell bench. After a long delay, it was learned
that Red coach Mike Schafer had been hit in the head with the puck
(apparently on a ricochet off the glass). It was a lot scarier than
it looked as Schafer was immobilized and wheeled off the ice. The
word later in the period was that Schafer was a bit dizzy afterwards,
but was alert and talking to his wife on the phone. When the teams
returned from the locker rooms, they skated 3-on-3 initially, but
eventually both penalties ended and Cornell went on the two-man
advantage, on which Moynihan scored. Clarkson, down 3-2, removed
Murphy in favor of Chris Bernard.

Cornell took a bunch of dumb penalties in the second and third
periods (and Clarkson had their share as well). In the third, Tyler
Sutherland was called for hitting from behind at center ice, and the
Red were also given a too many men on the ice penalty, leading to a
two-minute 5-on-3 for Clarkson, which was killed. In the latter part
of the period, Cornell's David Hovey lost his stick while committing a
holding penalty along the side boards in his own zone. With the
delayed penalty call on, Matt Reid went top shelf with the game-tying
goal.

Clarkson's Erik Cole took a roughing penalty for running into
Burt with 2:21 left in regulation, but Cornell took a minute to get
the puck into the Clarkson zone, and then Nick Windsor scored the
gamewinner a scant 12 seconds into OT.

Ian Burt played well again tonight. Since Jason Elliott's
injury, Burt has started four games, all one-goal losses, the last two
in overtime.
