One of Michigan Tech's famous songs is the "Copper Country Anthem".
It originated when a spirited student announcer said the famous words,
"And now, the Copper Country Anthem...." before the band played the
Blue Skirt Waltz. Now, right after the Huskies come on to the ice
(while the band plays Fight Michigan Engineers) the announcer repeats
this famous line and the band follows with a "rousing" rendition of the
waltz. Everyone in the arena stands up and sways to the music. It's a
sight you have to see to understand.
