Cornell 5 St. Lawrence 1

Cornell came out hitting and grabbing, trying to slow the Saints
down, which they did very effectively. Sophomore Paris Duffus
in his first home-ECAC start showed why he may be the anchor
of the Cornell defense for this and the next two seasons.

In the second period St. Lawrence had advantages on the power
play but Cornell penalty killing was very effective. Ettles,
playing in Dan Ratushny's old jersey #2, added size and
looks promising. Burke, Dukovac, Belzile and Chambers
played great defense, while Cornell's dump-and-chase got
into gear.

St. Lawrence's only goal came in the first on a breakaway,
and Duffus closed them down after that.

All in all, Cornell outskated SLU, and may well weather
the loss of substantial talent to graduation and team Canada.
