Some HOCKEY-Lers requested that an update on the DivIII final four be
sent to HOCKEY-L, so I am forwarding this from hockey3.
 
It's all-East final between Fredonia and Middlebury.  History will be
made one way or the other, as neither team has won a national
championship before.  The matchup takes place Saturday night.  The two
Wisconsin schools, Superior and River Falls, will meet in the
consolation.

Fredonia State 4 Wisconsin-Superior 3
Superior took a 1-0 lead early, only to have Fredonia answer back 1:54
later. Fredonia then added one more goal at the end of the first period
making the score 2-1 after one. Fredonia extended their lead to 4-1 in
the second period, outshooting Superior 12-8 in the session. Superior
dominated the thrid period picking up two goals and cutting the final
margin to 4-3. Superior outshot Fredonia 32-17
 
Middlebury 3 Wisconsin-River Falls 1
After a scoreless first period, Middlebury picked up two goals in 1:09 in
the second to make it 2-0. River Falls would cut the lead in half 7:06 into
the third period, only to have the Panthers seal the game at the 16:24 mark
with a goal. Middlebury outshot River Falls 29-12.
 
**Correction - Shots in the first game were 35-21.
