In regards to what Paulette Dwen posted:
"HAd six Ryan Smarts come to Cornell last year, they would have all
             found spots on the team..."

I agree with what Paulette stated. To add to what has been said, if a team
brings in more players like a Smart, it could/will force the veterans to
produce more because they amy feel that their spot may be given to a rookie.
In the case this year, players may feel that their job is safe and they can
relax so to speak and therefore not play with the fire of a new guy.It is
always a good idea (IMHO) to bring in a few extras so that people must produce
to keep their spot on the game roster. But to limit that to some extent.
On the negative side though, there is always the OVER RECRUITING philosophy
to keep in mind. If a coach develops a habit of always bringing in too many
players, he may face the problem where no one wants to attend his institution
due to the fact that they may get caught in this process. WHile this is more
evident on the D-II/D-III level it can be felt at all levels. There is nothing
worse than a player being told that he/she will play and arriving on campus
to find that 36 other players were told the same thing. I speak from
experience. That really puts a burden on an atheletes outlook on things.

Just my feeling towards things
