Bless you, Luiz. :^)

Yeah, they did throw a scare into the Bears for a
few minutes in that second period, but I think we
saw exactly what their problem is: inconsistency!

They came out flat, let the Bears use their superior
speed and fantastic passing skills to set up 3 goals,
and then let Elliott carry them until they got a break.

The Red could have done a lot more on their
powerplays, but anytime we score when a man up I
think of it as divine intervention (they rang in
at something like 15% last year).

Something we *did* see both at Harvard and
Brown was that they stayed with their game
despite being down 3-0 in both cases. They just do
not have the fire power to score 4 goals in 30
minutes against good teams. ("Doctor, it hurts
when I do that...")

Additional comments on the Red:

They continue to get scoring from the defensemen.
If you've followed the team at all the past few
years, you know this is a huge improvement.

Elliott is a solid goaltender, but he kills himself by
giving up long rebounds, thus keeping the opposing
forwards in the play when they should have to be
retreating out of the zone.

If they keep up their current level of play, it is
possible that they will finish '94 at 5-2-1. At any
rate, they *should* finish with a winning record,
which isn't a bad thing.

They're right on track for 6th place and a QF
somewhere like... Harvard (oh boy...), IMHO.

Let's Go Red!

p.s. Extra credit to the person other than Arthur
Mintz who knows who the last Cornell defensemen
to lead the team in: goals, assists, and points
(respectively) were. Answer tomorrow.
