Buddy's move was actually official about 2 weeks ago. While he says
that he was not formally offered the position until last Friday,
I was told by a contact to the team that he told one of his CM boys
that he was leaving for Bowling Green around then.

THe players are not too happy with this situation. The athletes that
are in Canada are not even aware of this situation as of last Thursday.
One of the US players said that the only reason he was at RPI was because
of Buddy. The team does not think highly of Buddy's move.

As for the decision of the next head coach, do not look for Dan Fridgen
to be the next head coach of the ENgineers. The RPI athletic department
here is very bitter at people leaving, and will take it out on "left
over" people.

I would think there would be coaches linig up to take this position,
and expect that some of the bigger names out there will apply.

As for the timetable of anything, take a look at the HE situation. I think
we will nbot see a new head coach at RPI until the end of August.

As for the HE decision, let's keep in mind the bitterness factor. There
fore my guess is that RPI will be in the ECAC for a long time.

As for what RPI needs behind the bench, they need someone who has the
one quality that I thought Buddy Powers lacked, the ability to outcoach
the other head coach in the big game. If you want to discuss this, email
me, and I'll give you other opinions as to what kind of coach I think
RPI should look for next.
