Clarke, Scott Garrow and Rob Laurie of Western Michigan University.
 
Three members of last year's All-Academic team return with first team honors
again this season:  Ferris State's Justin LaFayette along with Michigan
State's Walt Bartels and Mike Gilmore.  UIC's Trevor Wallace and WMU's Tom
Auge each received honorable mention honors a year ago and were selected to
the first team this year.
 
Walt Bartels becomes just the eight CCHA player in history to have been a
three-time member of the CCHA All-Academic Team.  The previous three-time
winners were Michigan State's Bob Essensa, Bowling Green's Alan Leggett, Tim
Hack and George McPhee, Ohio State's Paul Pooley, Lake Superior's Steve
Mulholland and Northern Michigan's Eric Ponath.
 
The All-Academic team is voted on by the Faculty Representatives from each of
the nine member institutions, considering both academic and athletic
achievement.  Those players receiving the top six vote totals are honored as
First Team members, with all other vote getters receiving Honorable Mention
honors.
 
The All-Academic honorees will be recognized at the Seventh Annual CCHA Awards
Banquet to be held in the Riverview Ballroom of Cobo Center on March 7, 1991.
Also presented at the banquet will be the CCHA Player, Rookie and Coach-Of-The
-Year winners.
