Don't quote me on this line score, but the overall
result is right.

Michigan lead all the way, but Cornell capitalized
on 4 power plays to make it a game. Felsner had 2
for Mich, Helber, Neaton, Stewart, Ouimet had the
others. Shields (Mich) and Crozier (CU) deserve
mention for some all around terrible net minding.
Neither was effective at stopping anything unless
it hit them, in which case a nice rebound was awaiting
the alert player. Crozier was lost playing the puck
as he gave it to Mich forwards as much as he gave it
to his defense. Shields played most of the game inside
his own net. CU noticed this and scored 3 pp goals on
the old back door play from deep on the wide side of
the rink. Shields also had an awful day controlling the
puck and his rebounds. Some of the blame must be shared
by a Mich defense which isn't always on the same page
of the play book. CU's defense didn't quite play as
well as last night, but Vanini (#3) did a good job of
moving the puck. They saved Crozier on numerous occasions.
Manderville (#22) continued his strong counter-attack
against Mich's physical play, but the CU offense wasn't
much of a force when at even strength.

Now on to Cole.....
Last night I said he did an OK job, but one must remmeber
that their was very little to heat up these 2 teams
as they've only played twice in their history. Neither
side wanted to take that stupid penalty.

I also noticed that Friday's game had as the "Violation
of the Night" : INTENTIONAL OFFSIDES.

Well tonight Cole decided that he would much more to
say in the game. Although both teams took some stupid
penalties, Cole was very inconsistent as to what would
be called and when. Tonight's "Violation of the Night"
was Man in the Crease, but Cole also added a new catagory
"Penalty of the Night" which was Cross Checking, anything
penalty or not, could and would be called cross checking,
not interference or holding or charging, just Cross Checking.
Another new Cole rule was that he only blows his whistle
for a penalty, which means when the puck is tied up along
the boards (at times for more than 12 seconds), he would
wait until 2 dead tired players would finally attempt to
remove each other's teeth. Then and only then would he blow
his whistle, which instigated many pushing and shoving matches
after the late whistle. Another new reffing technique made
popular last night was a lengthy conversation between Cole
and each player going to the box. While I'm certain that
most of these conversations were very enlightening :-),
additional scuffles were breaking out all over the ice.
As the teams were leaving ice between periods, Cole would
quickly insert his head up his ass as the two teams would
continue their shoving matches. All in all, Cole had no
control of the game and had it not been an NCAA playoff
game, there certainly would have beaucoup d' fisticuffs.

Please HE, take him back!

Back to hockey.

Congrats to the Fighting Sea Wolves of UAA on completing
their upset of BC 3-1 (I think) and winning the series
2-0.

Sorry this was so long,
