Clarkson's final four appearance was in '91, not '92, so the rules
were different. Clarkson had to play a third game at LSSU. The
principle I cited still existed -- a very tired team may well have
to meet a rested team in a very grueling sport. The rules change
after '91 was partly to avoid such things. We can, however, do
much better in terms of fair competition and at the same time improve
the popularity, visibility, and financial well being of college hockey.
Sixteen teams!
