I have a RPI alum from 1981 (Alan Boyce) visiting my office as I type and
I showed him some of the fan treatment posts. I also mentioned to him that
some of the hockey-l'ers think that the RPI ushers are jerks.

Alan says, "I remember them being jerks back in the late 70's and early 80's.
In those days they were students on some sort of financial aid thing or work-
study. It appeared to be a bit of a cushy job!"

Anyway, Alan thinks they were jerks then!

As for my experience, they were mostly older guys (50+) who were generally
pretty rude and nasty. Imagine, they would not let us smuggle beers into
Houston field house! Not that I have anything against 50+ folks, but I
remember them as being old, nasty men! Obviously, no reflection upon the
nice, polite 50+ people that are in the majority. The beers comment was a
:-) type comment, so take it with some humor, but the ushers were definately
seen as jerks by two generations of RPI students!
