Colorado College put on quite a show for their WCHA home opener, with a 4
goal third period to defeat Alaska Anchorage 8-2 tonight at the World
Arena. 5 Tigers each had 3 points tonight, and one had 2 points.

CC started off the game with a bang, as Scott Swanson put in the first
goal past Doug Teskey a mere 15 seconds in. The Tiger lines were shifted
around a bit tonight, and freshman Jesse Heerema was placed with Brian
Swanson and Darren Clark on the first line. It seemed to be a good
combination, as they were a factor in 4 goals and each had 3 points for
the game. A couple of penalties in this period, including too many men on
the ice on the CC bench, but no one capitalized on the power play.
Freshman Mark Cullen made it 2-0 midway through the period, putting away
his own rebound. In the last minute of the period, Darren Clark got his
first goal of the night to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead at the end of the
period.

Darren Clark got goal number 2 midway through the second period to make it
4-0, and it looked like it might be an easy win. Colin Zulianello's
shutout was broken with a minute and a half left to play in the period,
when Matt Williams put in his first of the night for the Seawolves.
Anchorage iced the puck with 3 seconds left in the period, so Zulianello
was pulled for the faceoff.

The Tigers turned on the scoring machine once again in the third period to
increase their lead. Ian Petersen got his first goal of the season only a
few minutes into the period to regain the 4 goal lead. But 5 minutes later
Williams put in his second goal to once again try to close the gap for
Anchorage. Justin Morrison increased the lead back to 4 with his first of
the year with about 5 minutes left. Brian Swanson made it 7-2 about a
minute and a half later. The only penalty of the period was called on CC
with about 3 minutes left, but that didn't slow down the scoring, as Toby
Petersen got his first of the season on a short-hander with 2 seconds left
in the penalty kill.

Same two teams tomorrow night, as the Tigers try to extend their unbeaten
streak to 4 in the WCHA.
