In a bid to counter-program the glut of televised B-Ball games here in the
Washington, DC area, UHF Channel 53 (available on most DC and Northern VA
cable systems) has scheduled both tape-delay and live coverage of the ECAC
Hockey Tournament in Lake Placid next weekend. Here's the latest schedule:

Friday 18 March ECAC Semi-Final Game 1 6:30 PM (1 1/2 hr delay ??)
                    ECAC Semi-Final Game 2 9:00 PM (1 hr. delay ??)

Saturday 19 March ECAC Consolation Game 5:00 PM (Live)
ECAC Championship Game 8:00 PM (Live)

Unfortunately, those of us living here on the Maryland side of the Potomac
are generally SOL, as few Maryland cable systems (including mine :-( carry
Channel 53, and their signal is very weak and difficult to pick up with a
roof-top antenna. As in years past, however, I'm hoping to arrange a suitable
viewing location in either Alexandria (The Penalty Box bar/grill) or G'Town
(Pizzeria Uno) to catch the Hockey East play-offs via NESN off the satellite
*and* the ECAC P'offs on Channel 53. If anyone is interested in joining me/
us, please reply <[log in to unmask]> off-List so I can get a tentative head
count. It's easier to convince a bartender to switch one of his TVs away
from the competing hoop tournament to hockey if there's some guarantee of a
fair number of appreciative (and thirsty :-) patrons in attendance !!
