Nice posting!  Saved me alot of typing.  The key word I want to emphasize
once we are talking the AHL and NHL officiating levels is "politics".  I've
been in it long enough now, and understand why it seems that some of the
best officials never make it to the 'show' (the NHL), while some mediocre
guys are there because of whom they know.  If you don't know the right
people, you might never move up.  Just like anything I guess.     -- kennyz
