Comments:
Apparently, Waterloo had been beating up opponents by ridiculous
scores (15-1), so this performance may actually mean something.
Freshmen are everywhere (and, of course, there were no names on the
jerseys), and some look impressive: Mark Scollan looked like he'd been
playing with Shaun Hannah for three years; Geoff Lopatka looked like
he'd set up a goal or two in his former life; most of the frosh looked
like strong, skilled skaters.
The main image carried from this game: there was always something
happening out there (which, if you saw a Cornell game last year, is a
minor miracle)! The forwards actually led plays into the offensive
zone - they didn't just dump and chase. When a scoring chance didn't
connect, there was actually a follow-up. And SPEED KILLS - Waterloo
kept being forced into mistakes and penalties.
Anyway, it wasn't nearly as awful as most of us were expecting.
