From today's St. Paul Pioneer Press (WARNING: the final paragraph may cause
great distress to some Gopher fans):
========================================
Hockey star chooses Gophers: Troy Riddle, who led Benilde-St. Margaret's to
the Minnesota Class A boys high school hockey championship last season as a
junior, has orally committed to the University of Minnesota.
Riddle is playing this season with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the U.S.
Hockey League.
Riddle joins two other players who have orally committed to the Gopher:
defenseman Paul Martin of Elk River and center Jon Waibel of Baudette. All
three are expected to sign during the early signing period, which starts
Wednesday.
The Gophers also are heavily recruiting forward Jeremy Jackson, a native
Californian who is playing junior hockey in western Canada.
