I'm not sure I follow this line of reasoning. You can't possibly be
suggesting that being herded into coach for a red-eye to Anchorage is less
stressful than riding a chartered bus to Houghton. Think of it this way:
would you rather pile onto a 5 hour non-stop flight next to a screaming
infant with no hope of escape or a 10 hour bus trip with only your teammates
which could stop for food and walk-around breaks?

Living in and flying to/from Alaska for the past 13 years has turned me into
the ultimate airline cynic of all time. Anyone larger than Darren Pang
cannot possibly find comfort in those seats. No way do I envy the Alaska
players having to fly as many miles as they do each year...

Of course, I'm sure regular commercial bus travel is just as bad. But I
imagine that few (if any) schools travel by non-chartered bus service. But
even if they did, those pecan logs from Stuckey's go a long way toward
easing the bus-ride blues.
