This was a major complaint after the first weekend of WCHA play too. In
the Friday night game, Wisconsin @ Michigan Tech had a lot of calls
that were clearly in response to the "new emphasis", and (if I recall
correctly) the same was the case in the Minnesota @ UMD game.
Saturday's Wisconsin at Northern game seemed to be called a bit
looser. If someone has the box scores from that weekend, It would be
interesting to see. Unfortunatly, the box scores I got from the
newspaper didn't say what the penalties were.

Also, there is the ever present question, "who was the ref?" (and,
perhaps, were either the WCHA Commissioner or Supervisor of Officials
observing the game?)
