Much of this is an extension of a post Matt Glaccum put on the list last year,
but I thought some people might be interested. He based his post on the
archives and I'm basing mine on his, so if you're going to blame anyone if
there's a mistake, blame the archives.

*Minnesota's 11 consecutive appearances in the tournament sets a new record.

Of the twelve teams in the tournament, 10 have won the NC$$ title previously,
for a total of 33 titles (Michigan 7, Denver 5, Wisconsin 5, Boston University
3, Lake Superior 3, Minnesota 3, Colorado College 2, Michigan State 2, RPI 2,
Maine 1). Only Clarkson and New Hampshire, of the teams in the 1995 field,
have yet to win a national championship.

Of the teams who did not make this year's tournament, 7 have won the NC$$
title previously, for a total of 14 titles (North Dakota 5, Michigan Tech 3,
Cornell 2, Boston College 1, Bowling Green 1, Harvard 1, Northern Michigan 1).

Of the 10 in the tournament this year who have won the crown before, the
longest championship drought belongs to Colorado College, who won its last
championship in 1957, or 38 years ago. The others:
                        Last Title No. of Years
Michigan 1964 31

Minnesota 1979 16
RPI 1985 10

Maine 1993 2
Lake Superior 1994 1

Of the 44 teams who are currently eligible for the NC$$ Tournament, 10 have
never appeared in the tournament (Air Force, Alaska-Fairbanks, Army, Ferris

Michigan State University 17-7-3, 25-11-3
WVU '87, UTenn '92, MSU who the hell knows when?

Results of the Conference Tournament Contest will probably not be out until
Wednesday, as I still don't have a copy of the boxscore from the WCHA
Championship game [actually, all I need are the total number of penalty
minutes].

I will start accepting entries for the NC$$ Tournament probably late tomorrow.
I will put out an order form for the entries around noon EST tomorrow.

Yes, Kenneth, I do remember LSSU from last year. The only difference is they
had the crowd behind them in both their first and second games at Munn. I
doubt seriously that will be the case for MSU on Friday (8:30 pm EST, ESPN2).
