I had the privilege of visiting with jayson moy and kurt stutt, the
engineer broadcasters after the game. the numbers come from their
sheet.

USAFA 0 1 2 3 kielb saves 15 7 3 25 pp 3-10
RPI 1 0 3 4 spadafore saves 10 12 13 35 pp 0-2

The engineers took the lead at 10:43 of the first when Craig hamelin
banged home a rebound. Rochon and healey got assists. I'd guess it
was Rochon who seemed to miss a wide open net after the feed feed from
healey.

At 19:39 of the 2nd, on the power play, beau bilek was set up by john
decker. Tim spadafore made the stop on bilek's blast, but andy veneri
netted the rebound from in close.

The go ahead for good goal, i don't have the numbers on, but the
killer came at 8:40 of the third when hameline got his second of the
night, a short handed goal, fed from o'conner, and going in alone,
shifted to the right and got it by pat kielb.

Air forces mark degironimo, on a feed from dan leone blew by the RPI
defender and got one past spadafore on the short side at 10:32 to cut
the gap back to 1. It was on a power play, but this was really a good
solo effort into the zone to get the score.

Air force was whistled for a penalty at 17:12 of the third. At 19:09
they had a faceoff at the top of the circle to spadafore's right.
with only 3 seconds left in the disadvantage, the falcons gambled by
pulling their goaltender. the mistake was fatal as jon pirrong was
able to get an empty netter (from hamelin and O'connor) at 19:22.

Air force got a meaningless power play goal at 19:58, veneri from
degironimo and decker.

The game seemed exceedingly even to me, a couple of bounces could have
made the difference. RPI seemed quite tired in the third and unable
to keep up with the falcons.

attendance was announced as being in the 1900 range.

the officials were (normally linesman) john elvy and ron krieger with
todd gow having linesman duty. Elvy seemed to be calling more than is
normal for him, and he didn't seem to be his usual consistent self.

same two teams tomorrow night.
