JOhn Young:
the 2 time MVP of the huskies now plays for the greensboro Monarchs of
the east coast Hockey league. John racked up 104 points on 35 goals and 66
assists in 66 games. (man do we miss that scoring punch!) John has aslo
played a few games for the nordiques top club at cornwall. They have requested
his services again, but the Monarchs are in the playoffs and declined. John
hopes to sign a contract with The Cornwall aces to play next season.
Geoff Seargent:
Geoff has already spent a few games up with the blues in the NHL, but they
wanted him to get some more grooming in in Peoria. He has Groomed well!
after a 22-14 record and 3.31 goals against last season, Geoff has established
himself as one of the top goaltenders in the minors. He leads the league
with a 2.45 GA, .916 goals against average, and a 25-9-2 record. However
Geoff was nursing a strained knee this week and is expected to miss another
week. Along with Toronto's backup Damien Rhodes, and MTU's senior Jamie Ram,
look for the Huskies to have 3 alumn playing in the net in the NHL soon! ;-)
Darcy martini:
Darcy, Darcy, darcy..(that was for Eric and all the rest of the WCHA who
loved Martini!) ;-) Darcy became the 35th huskie to play in the NHL
on Jan 13th in an oilers game against st louis. Darcy played one more
before being sent back to cape breton, Nova Scotia Last season, Darcy
had only seven points (1-6) in 47 games, but this season Darcy has made
great strides, with 53 points (17-36) in 60 games.
Davis Payne:
Davis played with John Young last season in Greensboro and finished with
35 points (15-20) in 57 games. He has split his time between greensboro
and the Kings farm team in Pheonix this season. In 22 games in Phoenix
he has 6 goals and 3 assists. he has been called back to Greensboro for
the playoffs, where he has 34 points (17-17) in 36 games this season.
Davis is expected to sign a contract with Pheonix for next season.
Kelly Hurd:
The 1991 Huskie MVP is now with the fort Wayne Komets of the IHL. After
2 slow saesons, he is currently their second leading scorer with 82 points
(35-47) in 71 games. Kelly was drafted by detroit, and joined Adirondack
in the fall of 1991, but was sent to Fort Wayneafter only 16 points in 35
games with Adirondeck. Last season Hurd was the Komets leading scorer
with 54 points (23-31) in 71 games
