Wisconsin defeated Alaska-Fairbanks again last night by a score of 4 to 3.
The Badgers played a considerably more aggressive game, but the Nanooks
were ready for them. UAF's defense showed considerable improvement over
Friday night's game, holding Wisconsin to a 3-3 tie until the last seconds
of the third period. The winning goal was scored on the Badger power play
with less than two minutes to go as a result of Derby Bognar's tripping
penalty, which he drew in a desperate attempt to prevent a breakaway goal.
IMHO it was a questionable call; Bognar's stick was flat on the ice (so was
he) as he attempted to sweep the puck away from the attacking forward. I
don't agree with the official's call because Bognar was clearly playing the
puck and the puck carrier could have easily stayed on his feet. But that's
the way it goes! Congratulations to the Badgers for accomplishing the first
hometown sweep on UAF this season. They worked hard at it.
