Unless things have changed in the past few months, the Thruway is usually
monitored and kept in decent condition despite the weather.  However, Rt. 20
is a delightful drive, also kept in good condition, and the small towns
provide gas, food, and lodging come a bad storm, definitely a plus over
the Thruway plazas in our book.   Have a safe journey, everyone.  We wish
we were with you.
