Good pre-long-weekend Friday, all,
The Maine State Library is again partnering with the Volunteer Lawyers Project to bring you Law Week 2016! Why Law Week? Two reasons: 1) Many libraries (and lawyers) wanted increased flexibility in offering this great service, and 2) this much crazy fun can't be packed into a single day! (Also, May 1st is a Sunday.)
Law Week is where libraries partner with local lawyers to meet and speak with members of the public about issues of access to courts and justice in the Twenty-First Century. The lawyers will also provide general guidance and information on referral to legal resources to individual attendees.
We are asking for interested libraries to take our extremely short Law Week 2016 survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Law-Week-2016 as a method of communicating your library's willingness to participate in Law Week 2016! Our goal is to work with libraries that either already know a willing lawyer or are willing to be paired with one so that we can begin an early promotion drive.
Materials helpful to promoting the event will be distributed through both the Maine State Library webpage at http://www.maine.gov/msl/commons/legal/lawyers.htm or through the official Lawyers In Libraries webpage at http://lawyersinlibraries.org/ in the coming weeks.
