It seems to me that Colgates broadcasters may have missed this one too. I WAS at
this game and it was a very bizarre goal. But to the best of my ability I will
describe exactly what occurred:

This is the first mistake of the account. Weder was caught out of position and
the puck was shot at an open net. The shot went just under the cross-bar and
wedged in between the net itself and the pipe in the upper-rear portion of the
goal.

Again, point B is not the stands, but wedged in the goal. As was explained to me
in between the 2nd and 3rd period by a couple of Colgate fans (who were sitting
in section 1 of the Houston Field House - directly behind the net): The shot
was taken on the empty net, and after about 3 seconds two of the RPI forwards
raised their sticks in the air and began pointing to the net exclaiming "It's
in the goal! It's in the goal!" From where I was sitting just inside the blue
line at this end I could here them yelling this too. The refs blew the whistle
and skated over to the net to inspect it. Without touching the puck, they
determined whether it was lodged inside or outside of the net. After determining
that the puck was indeed inside the net and awarding the goal, they reached under
the crossbar and dislodged the puck from where it was.

Therefore the story you have, is indeed an incredible one, because as I saw it
and 2 Colgate fans affirmed while I was outside having a cigarette, the puck
never made it into the stands.
