It gives me huge pleasure to announce that Jeff Cabral, Director of the McArthur Public Library in Biddeford has been appointed by Governor LePage to the Maine Library Commission. Jeff will be representing the Southern Maine Library District.
Jeff has a unique background, and his variety of experiences and perspectives will make him a valuable contributor to the Commission's work. Jeff is originally from Massachusetts and earned a BS in Marketing from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania. Prior to taking the role in Biddeford in early 2011, Jeff was the Director of Yeadon Library outside of Philadelphia in Delaware County, the Central Branch Manager in the Howard County (Maryland) public library system, and a Library Director in Upper Hutt, a city of 32,000 in the North Island of New Zealand.
Jeff lived in New Zealand for 10 years and earned his Masters in Library Studies from Victoria University of Wellington there. Public library management was a second career after marketing management roles in publishing, retail, financial services, government insurance programs, and database marketing. He returned to the US in 2006, and is happy to be back home in New England.
Congratulations, Jeff and welcome!
