Two topics for the price of one! Join us for a full day of timely and useful information.
Help! I Am Not a Social Worker!
Every day in libraries around the country, staff are expected to handle very difficult situations: children left in the library, fear of the mentally ill, persons under the influence, and the angry, in-your-face library user. This workshop will include ideas and tools to serve the public and handle those tough situations. This workshop was recommended to us by an enthusiastic attendee at the spring Public Libraries Association Conference.
Library Image Audit
The workshop will include step-by-step instructions for conducting an image audit as well as suggestions on how to address things found confusing in the library's message as it is now presented. The emphasis will be on practical approaches and inexpensive, if not free, ways to improve your library's image and to develop a type of brand recognition for an individual library. Also addressed will be issues of customer service and positive messages as key factors in the minds of others when they envision the library.
