Help! I Am Not a Social Worker!
Everyday in libraries around the country, staff are expected to handle
very difficult situations: children left in the library, fear of the
mentally ill, persons under the influence, and the angry-in your face
library user. This workshop will include ideas and tools to serve the
public and handle those tough situations. 

Library Image Audit
The workshop will include step-by-step instructions for conducting an
image audit as well as suggestions on how to address things found
confusing in the library's message as it is now presented. The emphasis
will be on practical approaches and inexpensive if not free ways to
improve your library's image and to develop a type of brand recognition
for an individual library. Also addressed will be issues of customer
service and positive messages as key factors in the minds of others when
they envision the library. 


Carolyn Davidson Brewer is the Executive Director of the North Texas
Library Partners, or as better known in Texas - Not Typical Library
Partners (NTLP). Carolyn is a licensed social worker and worked in
crisis intervention for 10 years in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. She
received her MLS in 1996 and has worked in several public, corporate and
academic libraries. She has over 20 years experience in training
throughout her varied career and really enjoys working with library
staff. She just recently became licensed as a private investigator in
the state of Texas.
