Next Tuesday, November 9, is Snapshot Day for 2010. The theme this year
is Libraries Connect.

Remember, if your library is closed that day, you can choose any other
day during the week of November 7-13 to participate. Ellen Wood, MSL's
hard-working Web Coordinator, has posted a number of resources on our
website to help you plan and participate, including a flyer you can
download and display in the library. The website is
http://www.maine.gov/msl/snapshot/guide.htm. The resources page gives
suggestions about how to make counting as easy as possibly including how
to count number of visitors without a door counter.

So that you can start planning for data gathering, here is a list of the
types of information we will collect
(http://www.maine.gov/msl/snapshot/dataform.pdf). It is very similar to
last year. Not all questions will apply to all types of libraries.
Just give us as much information as you can.

The quotes, stories and pictures you all submitted last year were very
powerful and really helped to tell our story to funders. Note from
Ellen: Photo instructions are on the guide with reminders to follow on
the listserve. Please remember use high resolution only so the photos
will work for print publication as well as web. I will optimize for web.

Speaking of pictures, while you're roaming your library on Snapshot Day
with your camera, look for situations that illustrate building
community, cooperation, collaboration, flexibility, connections,
empowering learning, changing lives, gathering place, or sharing.

Please plan on being part of Snapshot Day 2010!

Stephanie
