FYI - Thank you to the libraries that have made time to complete this
survey. If you had not had time to do so, but can make time before the
deadline of November 7, you will be adding to a national database of
knowledge about technology and libraries. This information is important
for seeking Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation support and support from
national and regional entities. Thank you for you time. Best, Linda
Dear Linda:
This week I am attaching 2 spread sheets showing you the response
progress to the 2008 National Survey of Public Library Funding and
Technology Access. One shows you the responses for sampled libraries,
and the other shows you all libraries in your state that have responded,
both in and out of the sample. The second is labeled "overall." I have
sent both so that you have as much information as possible on the
responses from your state. As usual, these only reflect the
NON-Opportunity Online grantees.
As of this morning, 40 sampled libraries in Maine have responded, which
is a 25.5% response rate.
However, a total of 47 libraries have responded, either completely or
in progress in Maine, yielding a 25.5% response rate. It is getting
there!
As I have stated in the past, a minimum of 60% is required for the team
to be able to analyze your state individually. It is important to
receive as many responses as possible from sampled libraries, as they
were chosen for the sample specifically based on the proportionality of
the various metropolitan areas and poverty levels in your state.
The survey closes NOVEMBER 7, 2008, which allows just under 4 weeks for
responses.
Thank you again for all of your help, and please contact me with any
questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Carla Wright
ALA Survey Manager
