Hi Everyone!

Our drama director and students, for this year's one-act play festival, are
creating their own play dramatizing stories from the Holocaust.  They are
using snippets and small portions from several different
stories/diaries/memoirs of the Holocaust.  Much of the material is coming
from books in the library.  They are also using some websites.

Everything they are doing falls under the Fair Use guidelines...EXCEPT for
the fact that the Maine Drama Festival charges admission to the festival!
Our school will not charge admission for a performance of the play here at
our school; however, the Maine Drama Festival does charge admission.  This
is all non-profit...the festival falls under the supervision of the Maine
Principals' Association, and ultimately the admissions costs are to cover
the cost of the venue, paying the judges, etc.

We are trying to figure out what our students/director need to do to be in
copyright compliance.  If they were doing a regular play, they would have
to pay the royalty fee.  I am thinking that they should email the publisher
of each source they are using for permission.  Any help from copyright
experts would be much appreciated!
